St. George's Episcopal Church and Community Center Online Newsletter

Rev. Michael McManus, currently the Deacon-in-Charge, will be ordained at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on December 12th at 11:00 am with his First Mass to be given the following day at St. George's Episcopal Church on Sunday, December 13th. All are invited to attend.

The latest copy of the newsletter, "Table Talk" is out and viewable as well in the "News" section, http://www.st-georgeschurch.com/tabletalk.html. Our news section contains up to the minute feeds from national and international Episcopal media such as Episcopal Life and EpiScope as well as local announcements. You can also see it directly at this link . In the future we would like recepients who currently receive the printed version to switch to the internet version for the sake of costs and the environment.

Rev. McManus and Hispanic lay persons from St. Mark's Episcopal Church in cooperation with Rev. Canon Anthony Guillen from Los Angeles have been practicing and preparing for Spanish masses at St. George's Episcopal Church.  The website is now translatable to Spanish and has a special section for Latinos. We hope to have future announcements of progress.

St. George's Church and Rev. McManus have been active participants in Mayor Thomas Masters Coalition to Stop the Violence from gang activity in Riviera Beach. The month of January will be recognized as Stop the Violence month. There will be a special interfaith service commerating the civil right's leader vision on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 18th and possibly a citizens march against violence. Our News page will be announcing further details.

We are currently working on technology using the internet to facilitate ministry and bible study at a distance which may be relevant to  those whose may find it difficult to leave home at night or have disabilities. Look for more news on this in the future.

Rev. McManus will participate in the Cursillo Ultreya at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on January 23, 2010. This is open to both those who have been to Cursillo and those who are interested in becoming a Cursillo candidate. See the Southeast Florida Cursillo website for more information. Special thanks to Dede Lewis for her input and guidance.

On February 27th, there will be a Special Roundtable held by Southeast Florida Episcopal Charities on Feeding the Poor to be held at St. George's Center. More news on this next month.

Thank you to those who have donated to St. George's Center after learning about us on the internet. In the near future we hope to complete our arrangements for accepting online donations.Our online contact form allows inquiry about joining the parish, receiving special sacraments, volunteering, donations, and comments. Use of the contact form allows us to accurately collect information and respond in a timely fashion usually within the same day.

Both St. George's Center and St. George's Episcopal Church have their own calendars online.
